U9s
The u9s enjoyed a trip to Ripon for the festival, looking great in their matching Hawaiian shirts
The first 2 games against a strong Malton, and Peterlee & Horden dressed as the minions means we started off the day with a couple of tough games
However the next 2 games against Scunthorpe & Morpeth saw the team start to come out of their shell and play some great rugby after each player was given a target to see who could make the most tackles and get the most touches of the ball
Our last 2 games against Doncaster & Ripon was where we played our best, every player was on the score sheet, everyone was making tackles a great way to end the morning for the u9s
Highlights of the day
Phoenix- the hot stepper, dodging every defender in his way
William- the bulldozer, running through everyone making great yards with the ball
Christopher- the gazelle, when Christopher got those legs going there was no stopping him running down the wing
Max- the support man, always on the shoulder for a pass and the link man to moving the ball to space a real team player
Jaden- the Jack of all trades, tackling, offload, ball carrying, try scorer you name it Jaden was doing it on the rugby pitch
Jenson- the work horse, always chasing back to make tackles, never stopped until the final whistle

U11s
On Sunday, Bridlington U11s travelled into unknown territory to attend the Ripon Festival, facing new teams such as Morpeth, Darlington, Scunthorpe, and Middlesbrough, as well as local rivals Malton and bitter rivals Doncaster Knights.
Travelling with two teams but only 16 players, Brid were up against it from the start, with players having to play back-to-back games throughout the day.
Game 1: Brid vs Doncaster
The team were eager to get their own back after their upset at Skegness. Unfortunately, it wasn’t meant to be, with the game finishing 2–2.
Try scorers:
Ellis V
George B

Game 2: Brid A vs Scunthorpe
Not much to say here—Scunthorpe were very strong at the ruck and moved the ball well down the line, taking full advantage of overlaps. Final score: 4–0 to Scunthorpe.
⸻
Game 3: Brid B vs Middlesbrough
A game I expected to be tough, but I couldn’t have been more wrong. The team were outstanding—strong at the ruck with some brilliant handling—coming away 8–2 winners.
Try scorers:
George B x2
Charlie J
Kohan P x3 (hat-trick hero)
George R
Ellis V

Game 4: Brid A vs Ripon A
I knew this would be a tough game after refereeing one of their earlier matches. With injuries and players covering after just playing, it was never going to be easy. The team gave it their all, but Ripon were just too strong, running through us with ease. Final score: 6–1 to Ripon A.
Try scorer:
George B
⸻
Game 5: Brid B vs Morpeth A
Another unknown, but Brid took control early with tries from Ellis and Noel, followed by Matthew. Morpeth began to lose their composure, arguing amongst themselves and with the referee. Rueben and Charlie added to the scoreline, with Brid winning 5–0.
Try scorers:
Ellis V
Noel C
Matthew W
Rueben O
Charlie J
⸻
Game 6: Brid A vs Morpeth B
Brid A followed Brid B’s example, putting Morpeth under pressure from the start. With brilliant breakdown speed and dominance at the ruck, Brid took control. Tries came from Tommie, with hat-tricks from Charlie and Kohan. A slight lapse in concentration allowed Morpeth to pull back three tries, but Brid still won comfortably 7–3.
Try scorers:
Tommie
Kohan x3
Charlie x3
⸻
Game 7: Brid B vs Ripon B
A closer game than the previous Ripon fixture, but what a team they are—well drilled in all aspects. Brid did their best but couldn’t quite find their rhythm. Final score: 3–1 to Ripon B.
Try scorer:
Kohan P
⸻
Game 8: Brid B vs Darlington
I didn’t see this game as I was with the other team, so thanks to Dom from the U7s for stepping in. Brid started strong with an early try from Kohan, but fatigue set in and Darlington took control at the ruck and on the counter. Final score: 4–1 to Darlington.
Try scorer:
Kohan P

Final Game: Brid A vs Malton
A game Malton were clearly up for. They struck first, but Zachary quickly levelled with a brilliant solo effort, zig-zagging almost the full length of the pitch. Brid then took the lead through Ellis Vickers with a trademark run.
However, Brid lost momentum, allowing Malton to score two quick tries as concentration dropped. With the pressure on, Brid pushed hard for an equaliser. On the final play, Malton attempted to clear from their own try line, but George Brooke charged it down and touched it down to level the score—breaking Malton hearts. Easily the game of the day.
⸻
It was a day of highs and lows, but I’m proud of every single one of those kids. They never stopped—even when heads dropped, they still gave everything in every tackle and every run. A day to be proud of.

Coaches’ Players of the Day
🏆🏆🏆 Zachary 🏆🏆🏆
Growing in confidence each week, capped off with a brilliant solo try from one end to the other.
🏆🏆🏆 Matthew 🏆🏆🏆
Very strong carrying the ball forward and putting in big tackles in defence.
⸻
Parents’ Players of the Day
🏆🏆🏆 Tommie 🏆🏆🏆
This kid doesn’t stop—he’s everywhere on the pitch. If someone has the ball, he’s hitting hard, regardless of their size.
🏆🏆🏆 Kohan 🏆🏆🏆
Tearing defences apart down the wing with pace and some great stepping—leaving defenders all over the place.
🏆🏆🏆 George B 🏆🏆🏆
Playing like a man possessed these last few weeks—unstoppable in attack and relentless in defence.
⸻
Finally, a huge thank you to all the parents for making the journey to Ripon. Without your commitment, days like this wouldn’t be possible.
4 festivals down, 2 to go!
Let’s Ave it! 🏉🏉🏉💪🏻💪🏻💪🏻💪🏻
U13s
The weather was perfect for a day out to Wortley. We arrived early with a 16 man squad and began warming up, Dan had agreed with the Wortley coach that today we would play fifteen a side and a full size pitch. The game began and it was obvious Wortley were really up for it. Our boys seemed to be in holiday mode. Strange passes, knock on's and slower to the rucks than the opposition. Despite this we battled on and Jackson broke the line running in the first try which Josh brilliantly converted for the seven points. The game went on and by the end of the half we had scored another two tries, one by Dylan and one by Ollie. Half time score was 17 to 5 in our favour.
We then got blighted with injuries. First Oliver, running down the wing, took a hard tackle and bad fall, seriously hurting his leg/ankle (that ended the game for him, being taken to hospital - fractured Fibula) then Louie had to come off with an injured shoulder and leg. Wortley lent us a player to continue fifteen a side and in the last ten minutes Wortley scored four tries with a couple of conversions. The final score was 29 to 17 in Wortley's favour.
A new experience for the boys with a full size pitch and fifteen a side which has given us plenty to think about and improve.
We then went on to Burger King for something to eat
It was then on to Laser Quest (a new experience for some)
A brilliant day out for the boys who all behaved superbly - well done boys !
We all send Oliver our best wishes and hope he has a speedy recovery !
