MEMBERSHIP & SUBSCRIPTIONS
All those who use the club on a regular basis must apply and become members of the club. Parents of those participating in Mini and Junior rugby and wishing to use the facilities of the club house must also apply and become members of the club.
Subscriptions are payable on an annual basis. Membership can be completed on line here or application forms are available from the club house, or can be sent to you by email.
PLAYER AFFILIATION
ALL players, senior and age grade, are required to affiliate to their club before they are able to participate in rugby training or games.
Existing players that have already affiliated to the club, can simply login to GMS, to update their details and re-affiliate to the club.
New players must register/create a user profile on GMS, in order that they can select the club for which they intend to play for this season. Parents of New age grade players, must first create a profile for themselves, before they can Add/create profiles for their children. This then links the child to the parent.

Individuals are responsible for their own data, and that of their children. This affiliation must be completed before participating in the game, regardless of age. (This affiliation triggers insurance cover with the RFU.)
Players who are not affiliated to Bridlington Rugby club, on the RFU’s Game Management System, cannot participate in training or matches.
DISCIPLINARY
We regard discipline both on and off the field as essential, and regard the authority of the referee on the field as beyond question.
In case of breach of discipline on the field we will follow the guidelines and regulations as laid down in the RFU Rules and Disciplinary procedures contained in the RFU handbook.
The club complaints Policy will be adopted as and when it is deemed appropriate in dealing with any disciplinary matters occurring off the field.
PLAYERS INSURANCE
All teams representing the club are covered by the basic RFU compulsory players insurance scheme. All players, parents and carers are advised to familiarise themselves with the extent of the cover provided.
Details are posted on the notice board in the club.
REFEREES
It is expected that everyone concerned with the Club do what they can to make the match day officials welcome. It is up to spectators and players to give referees utmost respect.
Refereeing can be a thankless task, but we must make sure it is not.
WHAT WE EXPECT OF OFFICIALS AND VOLUNTEERS
We value our officials and all volunteers. In fact, we could not function without them!
However, we expect a high standard of everyone representing the club in whatever capacity. The essence of good ethical conduct and practice is summarised below – all volunteers must:
- Respect the rights, dignity and worth of all.
- Consider the wellbeing and safety of participants before the development of performance.
- Develop an appropriate working relationship with players, based on mutual trust and respect.
- Make sure all activities are appropriate to the age, ability and experience of those taking part.
- Promote the positive aspects of the sport (e.g. fair play, sportsmanship, gentlemanly conduct).
- Familiarise themselves with, and follow, all guidelines laid down by the Rugby Football Union and Bridlington Rugby Union Football Club at all times.
- Hold, where appropriate, valid qualifications and insurance cover.
- Never exert undue influence over players to obtain personal benefit or reward.
- Never condone rule violations, rough play, bad sportsmanship or the use of prohibited substances.
- Give encouragement, but always positive encouragement.
- If criticism is appropriate, let it be constructive and friendly criticism only.
- Display only the highest possible standards or personal behaviour.
- Be aware of the needs, customs and cultural requirements of players from different racial or religious backgrounds.
- Be DBS checked and cleared.
INSTRUCTIONS FOR AGE GRADE PLAYERS
What do I do first? Become a member of the club. Membership forms are available on our website to print off and also from the coach/team manager and at the bar.
Age grade players registration day will be announced once we have available from the RFU a clear and safe starting date for the season.
Complete and return the membership form immediately along with two passport photographs and your £10 subscription. Cheques should be made payable to ‘BRUFC Ltd’ please.
Remember, if you are not a paid-up club member you are not insured and therefore cannot play.
After that? Come to the club and meet your colleagues in your year group. Get to know your coaches and team manager/s.
Ensure you have the correct kit for both training days and match days.
Then it’s simple, straightforward and fun.
When does it all take place? Sunday training from 10.30am (be there at 10.20am) for under 6’s to under 12’s. Don’t be late as it causes coaches problems if you are.
Age Grade rugby training for under 13’s to u18’s occurs on weekday evenings – individual team coaches will inform you of these days and times when you register.
Details of when training is to start, together with the session times can be found on the club website – www.bridlingtonrufc.rfu.club
Fixtures: Fixtures for all age groups are displayed in the club house. A number of Sundays are allocated to training. These are equally as important as match weekends and you are encouraged to attend as many Sundays as you can.
Where?: Home matches and training sessions are at Dukes Park. Note when and where your team’s fixtures are and check them each week. Remember the fixture list can change. Watch the notice board, website and the local papers. If in doubt phone your team manager or coach.
Attendance: Please let your coach know if you can’t attend. Don’t play if you are injured. If in doubt check!
Kit: For matches: Your personal kit should be named! Only unnamed kit is lost property, you need clean boots with legal studs (aluminium with kite mark). Navy blue shorts, blue/amber club socks, and (very important) a gum shield and also a towel.
Match day shirts are provided and laundered by the club or team manager and are the property of the club and should not be removed from the club.
For training: Anything suitable for training. Make sure it is both warm and comfortable. The gum shield is required, as is a towel. Please bring a change of clothes, as you may get wet or cold during training
Do not wear any form of jewellery. Don’t bring unnecessary valuables. Do not bring kit that is not clearly named. Your kit and valuables are your responsibility.
PLEASE LOOK AFTER YOUR KIT
Sustenance: There is a kitchen every Sunday morning. There are hot drinks, food and something to eat after the match/training session.
Saturdays: This is the day when the seniors play their games. You and your parents/guardians are most welcome to come and watch the matches. Entry for junior club members is free and only a little more for parents/guardians! You’ll see a good standard of rugby at Bridlington. Fixtures can be found on page 60.
Sportsmanship and Attitude: Players must remember that they are representing the Club at matches both home and away. They should show courtesy and good manners to opponents, officials and other coaches at all times.
Club Clothing and branded items: We have a fantastic range of branded items for sale. They can be purchased from the club – see your team manager for details. Wear them with pride!
BAD BEHAVIOUR WILL NOT BE TOLERATED
Smoking, Alcohol and Drugs: Age Grade members are not allowed to smoke on club grounds or whilst representing the club at competitions or away matches. Age Grade members are not allowed to consume any alcohol or drugs on the club premises or whilst representing the club.
Respect the Club and its Ground: Don’t enter the clubhouse with boots on. Try to keep the clubroom clean and tidy. Don’t drop litter. Keep the changing rooms clean and tidy. Remember someone has to clean it up!
IT IS YOUR CLUB! TAKE PRIDE IN IT AND ITS APPEARANCE
