This last month we have hosted the last of our school fixtures
Year 11
Headlands v Bridlington school, the last game of rugby many of these students will play for their school. The majority of students also using this playing opportunity to go towards their GCSE practical grade for rugby. Headlands provided the majority of the players and most of these players are familiar teammates in the Bridlington u16s team. Which is why the teams were mixed up so we could have a game of 10 v 10. Players playing for both sides and showcasing some great rugby to finish off their season.
Year 9
Headlands faced off against Filey once again, this time in a year 9 fixture. Both schools providing 12 players, many of these players currently play for the new Bridlington u14s team that started up after Christmas. The game started well for Headlands storming into a 35-0 lead, however Filey grew into the game and managed to make it 35-20 at half time. Filey started the second half stronger than the first managing to get the score back level at 35-35. After this Headlands started to gain some momentum back and finished off the game strong with a 70-40 Victory.
This Rugby season has seen all 3 local secondary schools participate in multiple playing opportunities this season, with the interest in rugby at all 3 schools increasing, particularly girls rugby at Headlands. It will be great to see the fixture list grow over the next couple of years
