U8s

A challenging morning of rugby away at Scarborough, with difficult conditions and a small squad making for a tough test.

We had just six players make the journey, while Scarborough's numbers allowed them to field seven mixed U7 and U8 teams. Our six played six seven-minute games, giving all of Scarborough's players the opportunity to get involved against visiting opposition.

With gale-force winds making flowing rugby difficult, games were often decided by a couple of passes followed by a strong run. It wasn't our best morning in terms of the standard of rugby, but there was still plenty of grit on show. All six players kept going right to the end, despite the conditions and the lack of substitutes.

It's not a morning we'd say moved us forward much in terms of our rugby, but there are lessons to take away. Sometimes it's about digging in, supporting each other and getting through a difficult morning together.

Players of the Week

πŸ‰ Dom's Pick – Keedie

We've missed hearing Keedie's voice recently, so it was great to see her back bossing the defensive line this morning. She was also keen to get on the ball in attack and managed to get it over the line on several occasions. A great all-round effort and a thoroughly deserved pick.

πŸ‰ Rich's Pick – Joseph

Rich's pick was Joseph, playing his first away game for the team. He really tried to get stuck in and showed what he can do with a couple of pitch-length runs, using his speed and manoeuvrability to good effect. You could see the cold was catching up with him towards the end, but he kept going and showed plenty of determination. A great effort on his first trip away.

A big thank you to Scarborough for hosting us and giving all the players plenty of game time.

Back to training this week, ready to learn from today and keep building!

U9s

Our U9s faced Scarborough in absolutely terrible, windy conditions against a very good, physical side. At times, things got a little too physical, but our team showed exactly what it means to wear the Bridlington shirt.

Despite picking up a few injuries along the way, not one of our players gave up. We kept going, kept competing and kept backing each other. That is the kind of spirit we want to see, and every single player should be proud of themselves. πŸ‘

We gave a really good account of ourselves against a strong opposition, and there were some fantastic moments of rugby throughout the matches. Our third match, in particular, was outstanding, with some brilliant attacking play matched by some equally impressive defensive work. We showed what we're capable of when we play with confidence, determination and as a team.

🌟 Players of the Week 🌟

THE WHOLE TEAM!

I genuinely couldn't pick just one standout player. Every player contributed, dug deep and showed the attitude we want from this group. From the first whistle to the last, the effort and determination were there for everyone to see.

There are always things we can work on, but performances like this show just how far we're coming as a team. Keep that attitude, keep supporting each other and keep believing in what we're doing.

A massive well done to all the players, and thank you to the parents for your continued support! πŸ’™πŸ’›

See you all Tuesday evening at training! Let's keep building! πŸ‰πŸ”₯

U10s

Super windy games today at Scarborough!

Brilliant effort from all the kids today despite the wind, it made for really difficult passes and even harder catches but you all put loads of effort in and it’s clear to see you’re all working much better as a team!

Player of the week is going to go to Jackson, for a couple of super runs in the game I reffed and for scoring tries in the other match I didn’t see, well done! Hopefully Minnie remembers to bring the trophy on Thursday!

I’ll see as many of you as possible on Thursday to prepare for Castleford on Sunday!

U11s

Today our Bridlington U11s travelled to Scarborough for a morning of rugby in some seriously challenging conditions, playing in gale force winds πŸŒ¬οΈπŸ‰

With only one pitch available both teams had to adapt with our Yellows switching to Blues after each half to make sure everyone got their game time across two 30 minute matches.

Despite the difficult weather the players showed great determination & teamwork. They battled hard in conditions that made every pass, kick & carry a challenge. Our counter rucking again was unbelievable this week which gave us plenty of attacking opportunities. Bridlington went on to win their first match 7 - 2 & then Drew their second match 3 - 3

A fantastic effort from everyone involved today, with the team continuing to show the progress they're making week after week. The players stuck together, worked hard for each other & never let the conditions get the better of them.

A Huge Well Done to our Yellows, who somehow ended up playing against the wind in both matches! Which made an already challenging morning even tougher but they dug deep, kept battling & showed real character throughout πŸ‘

A big thank you to Scarborough for hosting us & providing another valuable fixture for our players.

U15s

We managed 13 players today with a couple not available

Performance wise it was a massive improvement. We borrowed a couple of Scarborough players which was good

We decided on 4 x15 min intervals

1st 1/4 really good, ruck was good

Open play not bad, effort/ tackling very good

2nd & 3rd quarter we lost our way a bit. The lads really buckled down. The last quarter was vey good. Final score 57 - 19

Overall a vast improvement and something to go forward with. Hope the new lads enjoyed it and will keep coming down.

Lots to work with, will make notes of what we need to work on for further training sessions before next game.

Thanks to the parents who where there today it was really appreciated

I can really see we can be a veryΒ competitive team moving forward. We need to keep the lads coming Tuesday and Thursday’s

Once again well done all   🏈🏈
