A great morning of rugby at Scarborough festival πŸ‰ as always it was a windy one on the coast. Huge thank you to Jack for helping out today as well and for all the players who made it through. As they all had to put a shift in with swapping and changes on teams meaning there was very little time for a break. The fact the Scarborough coach came over at the end and said how much he loves playing us and what a good team we have with the support and the values they show was lovely. Player of the weeks this week was all about the girls. Firstly to Indie who despite taking a knock to the head shook it off and played every game starting all the plays for the team. Secondly to Syb who seems to save her best performances for a festival. Well done to them both πŸ₯³πŸ₯³ Next week we have Ripon festival in our Hawaiian shirts πŸ‰πŸ₯³

U9s

Bridlington RUFC U9s travelled to the Scarborough Rugby Festival today, playing six 10-minute matches against strong opposition including Scarborough Yellows, Hornsea, Pocklington Orange, Pocklington White, Guisborough Greens and Guisborough Purple.

With low numbers for Bridlington the squad showed great teamwork and sportsmanship by joining forces with Hornsea to form a combined team for the day. This proved to be a fantastic decision with players from both clubs supporting each other, working brilliantly together & quickly building strong on field chemistry.

Across all six matches the team demonstrated excellent effort, determination and skill. There was some great rugby on display with players showing confidence in attack and strong defensive work throughout. The teamwork between Bridlington and Hornsea players improved with every game with passing, communication and support play all standing out.

The matches against Pocklington and Guisborough sides were particularly competitive, providing a good challenge and helping the team continue to develop their game.

Most importantly, every player played with enthusiasm, respect and enjoyment – the core values of the game were clear to see throughout the day.

A big well done to all players from Bridlington and Hornsea for their effort and attitude and thanks to Scarborough for hosting a fantastic festival.

U10s

Bridlington RUFC U10s travelled to Scarborough RUFC for their Rugby Festival today. Proudly fielding two teams for a fantastic day of rugby. With each team playing five 10 minute matches. There was plenty of game time for all involved against strong opposition from Scarborough (who also entered two teams) Whitby, Pocklington & Guisborough.

Both Bridlington sides showed great energy & determination from the first whistle. The matches against Scarborough’s two teams were closely contested with some excellent attacking play & strong defensive efforts on display. The games against Whitby, Pocklington & Guisborough brought a variety of challenges but Bridlington adapted well, showing great teamwork & improving with each match.

Across both teams there were some brilliant tries scored with players running hard lines, supporting well & moving the ball confidently. Defensively, the effort & commitment stood out with some superb tackling & teamwork to stop the opposition attacks.

Most importantly the players demonstrated fantastic sportsmanship throughout the festival. Supporting each other, respecting opponents & representing the club brilliantly πŸ‘

A great day of rugby with lots of smiles, development & team spirit! WELL DONE to all players involved!

βοΈπŸ† Players of the week πŸ†βοΈ

Woody W - Returning back to rugby after a long 7 weeks off due to recovering from an injury. He played awesome all morning, making great tackles & scored some really impressive tries. Welcome back Woody πŸ‘Š

Lily M - For constantly improving throughout the morning with class defensive work. Turning the ball over every time she made contact with the opposition & giving her team mates a lot of try scoring opportunities. Great work Lily πŸ‘

U13s

A new challenge today with Pontefract making the long journey to the coast. We heard they had recently beaten both Driffield and Scarborough quite comfortably so it was looking to be a good game.

The first ten minutes was pretty much a stalemate with neither side giving ground, It was going to be a proper battle on the pitch.

Slowly our forwards began to get the upper hand with the pick and goes proving efficient. A well contested match !

A special mention to Rhys, standing in for Josh, played brilliantly all match. The centres and backs got involved and we took the lead. We then scored twice more. Pontefract did not give up, much to their credit, and came back at us with some strong running.

At half time the score was 15 - 5 in our favour.

The second half was well matched with Pontefract putting some strong plays together and adding to the scoreboard. With a few minutes to go the score was 30 - 25 in our favour then we scored what was considered the best try of the game by Paddy.

Final result was Bridlington 35 - Pontefract 25.

Players of the match went to Louie and Riley.

Today was a real TEAM performance - We are so proud of you all and how much you have improved this season.

Well done boys !!!
