Puffins

The Puffins enjoyed a new game today, Bulldozers & Builders, the puffins way too quick to destroy the city leaving no chance for the parents to rebuild

Also worked on some passing today which is coming along nicely, the puffins also really good at running forward to the try line which will be great for future years when they start playing tag rugby πŸ§πŸ”΅πŸŸ‘πŸ‰

πŸ‰ U8s vs Beverley – Home Fixture

Another enjoyable morning of rugby as we welcomed Beverley today!

Although we're playing as a combined U7/U8 squad this season, a slight change of plans saw us split into separate age groups for today's games, with Dom taking the younger players and Rich looking after the older ones.

πŸ‰ Younger Group

For a couple of our players, today was their very first proper game of tag rugby, while for most of the others it was only their second!

We're still getting to grips with the rules and how the game works, but there was some great effort and plenty of potential on show. At this stage, the priority is getting the kids running around, enjoying themselves and gaining confidence with the ball in hand.

There were some really encouraging moments from everyone, and plenty for us to build on over the coming weeks.

πŸ† Player of the Week – Finley

Finley grabbed a couple of tries, but what really stood out was his support play. He was almost always in the right place when we were attacking, ready to receive the ball and keep things moving. As we get quicker at moving the ball, I'm sure we'll see him crossing the try line plenty more times!

πŸ‰ Older Group

The older players had a good, competitive morning against Beverley, with some excellent passages of rugby from both teams.

The game was refereed with a little more emphasis on the rules, particularly around touchlines and passing, which was a useful learning experience for the group.

There was some brilliant listening, positive attacking play and, encouragingly, we're starting to see the kids getting back into position and forming defensive lines after making their tags.

Some really good progress and plenty of positives to take away.

πŸ† Player of the Week – Beax

A well-deserved award for Beax after a strong performance and a great contribution to the team.

πŸ‘ Well done everyone!

Another good morning of rugby with both groups showing progress. There's still plenty to learn, but the effort, enthusiasm and teamwork are all moving in the right direction.

Thanks to Beverley for making the trip over, and we'll see everyone at training on Thursday before heading to Malton next Sunday! πŸ‰πŸ’ͺ

U9s

I just want to say a huge thank you to all the parents bringing the kids through today and supporting and giving up your Saturday πŸ™Œ We got the experience of playing on the first team pitch in front of a load of supporters against a good Beverley team. But we held our own and I think we cancelled each other out and it was evenly matched. All the players did really well to play four quarters and a lot of rugby. First player of the day goes to Finn who was up on that second pass time and time again sometimes trying to defend from the front on his own, constantly keeping that pressure on! Second player of the day goes to Luna who was a thorn in Beverleys side all afternoon, the only girl on the pitch and she went through them time and time again scoring some amazing tries and not scared to make a tackle or two either. Well done to both πŸ‘πŸ₯³πŸŒŸ

U10s

Well done to the U10’s today for keeping mostly cool heads in the face of some difficult play by Beverley. Their discipline in defence made it really hard work for you to score and frustrated you with their obvious experience in rugby league.

Despite Beverley’s best efforts you all played really well as a team, we had a few knocks and injuries along the way but you all bounced back and you managed three games of rugby against their nearly three full teams of players. I’m sure you’re all tired out after that and I’ll see you at training on Thursday.

Well done to Phoenix as player of the week, he showed great commitment to tackling the opposition, always pushing straight up on them at the beginning of each play and singling out the ball carrier for quick tackles.

Next weekend is Malton Away, which unfortunately me and Joey can’t make due to his swimming in Sheffield, but Ed is going to make sure someone from the club is there to manage the team on the day.

U11s

A fantastic morning of rugby at Bridlington RUFC today as we welcomed Beverley RUFC to Dukes Park! Both clubs fielded two teams which provided plenty of competitive rugby, great teamwork & lots of opportunities for the players to showcase their skills.

Bridlington Blues had an excellent morning winning both of their matches with two impressive performances. They secured an 8 - 3 victory in their first game before following it up with a brilliant 9 - 1 win in their second. A great effort from everyone involved πŸ‘

Bridlington Yellows also enjoyed an unbeaten morning, showing fantastic determination & team spirit throughout both matches. They edged a closely contested first game 5 - 4 before finishing the morning in style with a convincing 9 - 4 victory. A brilliant effort from the whole squad πŸ‘

⭐ πŸ† PLAYERS OF THE WEEK πŸ†β

πŸ”΅ Blues - Kobey G

🟑 Yellows - Tommy C

Well done lads, keep up the great work πŸ‰πŸ’ͺ

A massive well done to all our players for their hard work, commitment & attitude on the pitch today. Four wins from four matches is a fantastic achievement & it's brilliant to see the progress the children continue to make.

A big thank you to Beverley RUFC for travelling over and providing some great competition & to all the coaches, parents & supporters who continue to make these mornings possible πŸ’™πŸ‰πŸ’›

U14s

It was a beautiful morning at Pocklington with blue skies and sunshine. At the warm up our boys looked ready. The match began and it soon became apparent we were too strong for a spirited Pocklington team.

Tries came from Riley 3, Oliver 2, Josh, Jackson and Milo. All were converted. We won the game then mixed the teams up.

It was especially good to see our boys welcome the opposition players into two teams and have a great game with all the players involved having a good time, laughing, joking and enjoying this wonderful game we call "RUGBY"

Players of the match went to Riley and Milo.

Well done TEAM !!
