U8’s

A really enjoyable morning of rugby against Whitby today.

Both clubs are in a very similar position this season, with the U7s joining the U8s and several new players on both sides who had never played a proper game of tag rugby before.

Rather than keeping the clubs separate, we mixed everyone together, made four teams and played a little round robin β€” and it worked brilliantly.

There was some really good rugby played throughout the morning, but probably the most pleasing part was the attitude of the more experienced players. They did a fantastic job of helping the newer players get involved and made sure everyone had an opportunity to play their part.

We also saw some performances well beyond their experience from some of the younger players on both sides.

πŸ† Coaches' Player of the Week – Bowen

Rich and I both picked Bowen, who put in a brilliant performance and showed confidence and ability well beyond his experience.

πŸ† Parents' Player of the Week – George

George kept going all morning and had some really strong involvements on both sides of the ball, contributing in attack and working hard in defence.

πŸ† September Player of the Month – Erin

Our first Player of the Month was a joint vote between parents and coaches, with Erin taking the award. She's shown fantastic commitment and a great attitude so far this season. Her determination to get involved has meant she's getting the ball in her hands more often, and it's been great to see the confidence that's coming with it.

Overall, a really enjoyable morning. The attitude from the whole group was excellent today β€” they listened, worked for each other and concentrated on playing rugby. A big improvement and something for us to build on.

Well done everyone, and a big thank you to Whitby for a great morning of rugby! πŸ‘πŸ‰

U9’s

It wasn't the game that we were expecting today with whitby only bringing 3 players across. But a huge well done to all our players for showing Whitby how well weΒ  train and how far all our players have come on. The Whitby coach said to me at the end what a great team we have πŸ‘Š

A few shout outs before we get to players of the week. Firstly to Corey and his amazing interception which led to a great try. To wolf for some amazing tackles once again taking a knock and kept going. To Teddy who despite getting his lip bust within the first five minutes came back and kept going. And lastly to Brooklyn, we all enjoyed his little spins 🀣 the first player of the week went to Oliver once again showing he can make the last tackle and loves to play the last man also scoring some great tries, a full back in the making! The second player of the week went to Reggie. I have to apologise for taking his first try away from him 🀣 but he kept going and got his first offical try with no one able to take him down πŸ‘ŠπŸ‘Š well done lads πŸ‰πŸ‰

U10’s

Well done to all the U10’s today for a great match against Whitby. The whole team seemed to gel a lot more than last week, played to the roles they’ve been given and were definitely getting more stuck into the tackles. Always a few things to work on, but we can pick up on those in training or before the match next week.

Thanks to the children that played for Whitby from U10’s and to the U11’s that joined us, without you all putting on a bib to play for Whitby today it couldn’t have gone ahead.

Again, a massive well done to you all for such a great team performance!

U11’s

A great morning of rugby at Bridlington RUFC as our U11s welcomed Whitby for a great set of games! πŸ’™πŸ‰πŸ’›

With low numbers for Whitby we had to be flexible before we even got started. We lent 3 of our U11s players to the U10s & we also helped Whitby out by lending them 4 players so everyone could get plenty of rugby.

Despite the unusual circumstances, it certainly didn't stop the players from putting on a fantastic morning of rugby! πŸ‘

There was some brilliant attacking play, great teamwork, plenty of strong tackles & most importantly lots of smiles & enjoyment throughout the morning.

A massive well done to all the players from both clubs for embracing the spirit of the game & making sure everyone got the opportunity to play. That's what grassroots rugby is all about! πŸ’™πŸ’›

Well Done to our U11s player of the week BRANDON Y who was an absolute menace in the 1st game playing against his own them mates & for continuing to have an outstanding 2nd game playing for Brid πŸ†πŸ‘

U14’s

We welcomed a strong Scarborough team to Dukes Park today.

The game did not disappoint. Scarborough contested hard for the ball and passed it about well. The game was pretty well matched and at half time the score was showing Scarborough a try in front although it should have been level. (we had a contender for BLOOPER of the year award)

During the second half Dan made some positional changes that made a lot of difference. Our team got the upper hand and in the last ten minutes scored two more tries with Josh adding the conversions. The final score was 24 to 19 in Bridlington's favour.

Players of the match went to :

Jake for some fantastic, aggressive running and tackling.

Rhylee with a brilliant first start with the team.

Harlan for his constant marshalling of the forwards.

Also a special mention to Harlan on his Birthday last week with the entire room singing happy birthday - much to his discomfort !

I hope every single one of you boys are as proud of yourselves as Dan, Greg and myself are of you all.

You should beΒ  - a brilliant team performance.
